How to open a link on a new tab in firefox

In Firefox when I click on a link I want to open the link in a new tab.

Followed the steps mentioned in the official doc but that doesn't work:

After setting browser.search.openintab to true and restarting the browser when I click on the link it does not open it in a new tab it still opens the link in the same tab.

We can hold the Ctrl key and then click on the link or use the Middle mouse button to open a link this will open the link in a new tab but how to enable opening a link in a new tab just by left click on Firefox?

You could use a Firefox addon like Open Link In New Tab by Mateusz Karandys.

This addon opens every clicked link in a new tab.

Like most, this add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla. Make sure you trust it before installing.
