I'm studying Bredon cohomology, and one of its important applications is Smith inequality, that states for manifold $X$ and cyclic group $G$ $$\sum_{i=0}^n b_i(X^G)≤\sum_{i=0}^nb_i(X)$$ Proof is based on analyzing Bockstein exact sequences and is pretty algebraic, as I glance. I'd like to know, whether it is more visual way to obtain such a result. Thanks!
