I'm trying to understand the differences between a system clock and a CPU clock

As I understand it currently, a system clock generates electronic signals (also known as pulses) that oscillates between two states, providing system components with a stable timing reference for synchronization. A CPU clock on the other hand also generates these signals, but these signals are used to perform a fetch-execute-decode cycle?

Something about the two just does not click. Could someone please explain the two, their differences, where, why and how they are used?
