Typically some kind of rolling code algorithm is used, i.e., a pseudorandom generator whose state is updated at each use. The page below refers to an attempt to get around the system. See:

One manufacturer that has products using the Keeloq algorithm which rolling code systems use is Microchip.

It seems that Liftmaster uses Keeloq algorithm at least in some products as indicated in the manual below:

https://www.liftmaster.com/searchResult#q=keeloq&tab=manuals&f-document-type-facet=Manual&numberOfResults=20

Note: If in Europe you may need to use (as pointed out in the comments) https://support.partner.liftmaster.com/s/liftmasterdealer-search-results#q=Keeloq&tab=All%20Content

Finally, this question and answers discuss attacks on rolling code and Keeloq.
